It’s Cocktail Time – for both of me!

Hell yes – it’s Friday, and y’all know what that means – Cocktail Hour!

So, the night before last the Poop Baggers woke me around 2am when they stumbled home from the bar. They banged and yelled and in general made a ridiculous amount of noise for about a half hour before, I assume anyway, passing out. Unfortunately, by that time I was wide awake. I read a while, and then tried to go back to sleep, and that’s when an idea for a post hit me. I got up, turned on the light, and scrawled out my idea on the back of an envelope before going back to sleep. I have to do this, or I’ll forget. Yesterday I took a look at my note to jog my memory, and it said, “much makeup and the wandering eye.

Huh?

What was I referring to? Men with wandering eyes? Women who wear too much makeup, look like whores, and thus cause men with wandering eyes to stare? Or perhaps I was referring to my wandering eye.  Who the hell knows? My late night idea could have been the best damn post I would have ever written, but we’ll never know because I decided not to write a full sentence. And though I racked my brain, I never did figure it out, or write a post yesterday. But really, who cares? It’s Friday, boys and girls. And that means Happy Hour is finally here.

The inspiration for today’s cocktail came from Pish Posh, who suggested a number of names for my newest character, one of which I thought would make a mighty fine drink too. So may I present you with a cocktail that will please the side of your personality that wants gin and the one that likes vodka?

This Vesta wants gin

This Vesta wants vodka

Sybil Collins

In an ice-filled Collins glass pour:

  • 1 oz Tito’s Handmade Vodka
  • 1 oz Hendricks Gin
  • Top with grapefruit juice

FYI – Grapefruit doesn’t go with Valium, kiddies. So if one of your Sybils is taking a mother’s little helper, use orange juice instead. Wait, no scratch that – skip Happy Hour all together.

Enjoy!

Also, I’d like to say thanks to all of you that voted and sent well wishes for the Bloggie Awards. I’m one of the 5 finalists for New Weblog of the Year. I am stoked and appreciate your support – you guys are awesome.

And, most of you probably know our favorite Kennel Master, Greg of Dogs on Drugs, is one of the finalists under the Best-Kept Secret Weblog category. So make sure to vote for DOD! If you haven’t voted yet you can do so here (fyi – both categories are waaaay at the bottom, so you gots’ta scroll).

  1. I love those pics, because the background makes it look like you’re drinking in a police lineup. “Yes, officer, it was her. Number 3! I’d recognize that Sybil Collins anywhere!”

And thanks for the plug. I’ve got the official DoD Bloggies Voter’s Guide coming out next week. We’ll put each other over the top or die tryin’.

  2. Congrats on the nomination! I had voted for both you and Dogs on Drugs. I hope you guys win.

I carry a notebook around with me in case of blogging ideas. I do the same thing sometimes. “WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? I was so excited when I wrote this down!”

Someone needs to invent some type of mental recorder so we could play back our thoughts.

  3. HAHAHA!! I had the worst day and it totally cheers me up that you did this. I love the two pictures (you are SO pretty btw). I’m totally going to have a Sybil Collins tonight. Or will I? Maybe my other self will..

Congrats on the nomination, I voted for you both, and good luck!!

Did you pick a character name yet? Or is she just Molly on the Town until further notice?

Maybe you were doing a free-association with Sid and Nancy Vicious – drunk couples stumbling home, waking people up, screaming at each other, saying horrible things, then crying and saying the love each other and falling asleep in a puddle of pee

  4. Hahah I get that way with post ideas too. I have this doc called ideas where i write random notes down. Usually, it’s enough to jog my memory for what the whole post (for example, all I needed to write down was “magnet story” for this: but sometimes i notice I’ve written down something like “Boyfriend charts.” Hmmmm…what could that mean??
