Cocktail Time!

Well hello and happy Friday y’all! It’s only May 3rd and it’s already hot as hell in Pasadena, which is fine with me – I’m ready for summer.

ScorcherThe Scorcher

  • 1 1/2 oz Tito’s Handmade Vodka
  • 1 1/2 oz 209 Gin
  • 1 oz St. Germain Liqueur
  • Lemon or limeade soda

In an ice-filled Collins glass, pour vodka, gin, and St. Germain, top with limeade soda and garnish with a lemon.

*Don’t forget to take a cab if you’re imbibing. Have a wonderful weekend!

Cocktail dedication time!

Today’s happy hour cocktail is for Holly. If you aren’t reading her blog, you should be, because she’s pretty bad ass. She lives on a farm with chickens, rabbits, other assorted animals, and a husband. Holly is also a master at fixing stuff. Real stuff, like furnaces and back hoes and thingymagigs.

Anyway, for whatever reason, it seems anything with a motor is fritzing out on her lately, and I think she needs a drink. So this one’s for you.

I would suggest doing whatever hammering that needs to be done before having a cocktail.

Holly Folly’s Tea

  • 2 oz Kentucky bourbon
  • 1 oz peach schnapps
  • pineapple juice
  • lime
  • bitters

In a tall, ice-filled glass, pour bourbon and schnapps, then add one dash of bitters and a squeeze of lime. Top with pineapple juice, and feel free to stir with a wrench.

Happy Friday y’all! Don’t drink and drive, and don’t drink while fixing machinery either. I don’t want anyone losing a finger this weekend.

Cocktail Time – Wastin’ Away Again…

So a couple of weeks ago, Thoughtsy of Thoughts Appear informed me today is National Margarita Day (I thought that was Cinco de Mayo, but whatever, I will totally take two dedicated margarita days per year) and she fully expects an appropriate Happy Hour post. I am happy to oblige. But first, a word of caution – hell hath no fury like a tequila hangover, so be careful with these.

May I present you with Thoughtsy’s Rita?

My husband says hell yes to Thoughtsy for giving us a reason to drink some tequila.

Thoughtsy’s Sweet Tart

  • 2 oz reposado tequila (I used Tres Generations)
  • 1 oz Grand Marnier
  • 1 oz Chambord
  • ¼ oz Rose’s lime juice
  • 3 oz Cranberry juice

In an ice-filled shaker, pour tequila, Grand Marnier, Chambord, Rose’s and cranberry juice. Shake vigorously. Thoughtsy prefers a sugar rim, so make sure to take a lime wedge and rim the glass, then dip the edge in fine granulated sugar. Pour contents into glass, and enjoy!

Happy Friday y’all – don’t drink and drive.

Cocktail Time

So, if you will recall from yesterday, the man has today off. This is what happens when you start happy hour too early:

I'm not really sure what's going on here.

Trashy Cherry

  • 2 oz almendrado tequila (you could substitute amaretto)
  • cherry bitters
  • Dr. Pepper (we used diet)

I don’t think mixing instructions are required for this one, but it’s probably best enjoyed in a red plastic cup.

*Bonus Drinking Game* If you plan on watching House of Cards this weekend, every time Kevin Spacey breaks the fourth wall, chug.

Happy Friday y’all, don’t drink and drive.
